Krebeni Castle dates back to the second half of the 13th century and is a fortress complex from which ruins of walls, towers and buildings survive on a surface of about 50 acres. The fortification is particularly reinforced on the north and east sides, while on the west side there does not appear to be any fortification as the rock is very steep from there.
Its location is on a high cliff between two gorges facing the Messinian plain. The shape of the castle follows the natural configuration of the terrain and consists of two enclosures aligned to the north, with traces of an ancient fortification. To the north is the square tower – shelter, while to the southeast there was a large rectangular building and an oval-shaped cistern partially embedded in the rock.
